Not only is there a benefit to carrying out spreader testing by conforming with the Sustainable Use Directive (SUD) and Assurance Schemes, but this will result in maximum slug pellet application accuracy. Furthermore this will abolish over application, resulting in cost savings.
FAQ's
Does my applicator need testing?
The SUD requires that all pesticide application equipment is tested on a regular basis. More information is available
here
What does the test consist of?
The test contains a 3 step analysis of your pellets, which includes size, density and strength. This is followed by a comprehensive check of the machine. After these checks, we conduct a tray test to gain the accuracy of the spread pattern using trays. Following the first run through the trays we can then adjust the applicator where appropriate to refine the spread pattern. The test includes an analysis and tray test of two products.
Where is the test conducted?
Our qualified NSTS tester will come to your farm to complete the test or at any convenient location, provided there is provision for doing the spread check and laying out trays to your desired working width.
Do I need to provide the pellets?
If you have your own pellets we can conduct the tests and check the spread pattern of them. We can supply live pellets or dummy pellets if required.
There are 3 NRoSO points available for operators under the Voluntary Initiative, providing they stay and watch the test being conducted.
